Radicul [‘spinal nerve root’] opathy [‘problem’] refers to a disease of the spinal nerve root as it leaves the spinal cord. The symptoms and findings during a doctor’s exmaination can distinguish this from a myelopathy.
It is a descriptive term and can therefore caused by a variety of disease processes.
Radiculopathy can occur with myelopathy in CSM, as the same changes which lead to compression of the spinal cord can affect the small openning through which the spinal nerve root leaves.
